IES Field Trips

IES, our group of 28 Americans, went on two major field trips. The first was to Kangaroo Island (KI) south of Adelaide. The second was a long road trip north from Adelaide all the way up to Alice Springs.

Kangaroo Island... most of my pictures from this weekend are on the Animals page.

  Day trip to Victor Harbor

Spring Break Outback Trip

The first day or two were fun.

...Then the bus broke down.

Coober Pedy, a dusty, windy mining town.

We got to the Northern Territory, and I didn't have the heart to take a picture of the bus breaking down the second time!

The view from bus windows most of the time.

Uluru, also called Ayer's Rock, was spectacular. We saw a lot of it.

We did some exciting hikes on King's Canyon, Valley of the Winds, Palm Valley, and Kata Tjuta, also called the Olgas.

Camping in swags was exciting... pray the scorpions stay away.

I bought my didgeridoo from Tommy Crow, a very cool Aboriginal man who is an amazing musician and artist.
